Finish Line Youth Foundation and KaBOOM! Increase Opportunities to Play in Indianapolis

200 Community Volunteers Unite to Build a New Playground at Carriage House East

Volunteers from Finish Line, Glick Family Housing Foundation and the community will join KaBOOM! on Thursday, August 16 to transform an empty site into a kid-designed, state-of-the-art playground in just six hours at Carriage House East. The new playground will help make play the easy choice for kids and families in Indianapolis.

Play is essential to physical, creative, cognitive, social and emotional development, and the playground project is part of Glick Philanthropies' ongoing work with community partners to support the expansion of opportunity for kids and adults on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. Through this playground project, Glick will work with Finish Line Youth Foundation and KaBOOM! to make a difference in their community and address needs of kids in one of the city's most economically challenged neighborhoods.

In May, Glick Philanthropies broke ground on the Carriage House East Success Center, a $2 million facility that will connect residents and neighbors alike to the services they need to break the cycle of poverty and achieve self-sufficiency. The playground built in partnership with Finish Line Youth Foundation and KaBOOM! will be located on its grounds.

In June, kids from Carriage House East and the Far Eastside community came together to draw their dream playground. The design for the playground is based off their drawings and will provide more than 300 kids in Indianapolis with a great, safe place to play.

This playground is part of a broader effort led by Finish Line Youth Foundation and KaBOOM! to ensure communities have great PLAYces for kids and families. This is the fourth build by the Finish Line Youth Foundation with KaBOOM! creating an oasis where kids feel valued and loved, and where their potential is supported, nurtured and celebrated.
